Note: If you are travelling by car there are parking lots in the area. The three that are most convenient are:

  • (1) Parking lot on Mercer Street between Houston and Prince Streets -- which you enter on Mercer St.
  • (2) Parking lot on Wooster St. between Houston and Prince Streets -- which you enter on Wooster St.
Access via subway:
  • From the Long Island Railroad at Penn Station (34th Street and 8th Avenue): Take the A, C, or E train downtown to West 4th Street Station. Walk downstairs and change to B, D, F, or V train (IND line) to Broadway-Lafayette Station.  Walk 2 blocks west along Houston St. to Foundation.
  • Take B, D, F, or V train (IND line) to Broadway-Lafayette Station.  Walk 2 blocks west along Houston St. to Foundation.
  • W or R train weekdays, N or R train weekends (BMT line) to Prince St.  Walk 2 blocks west along Prince St., turn right on Greene St. and walk 1 block north to Foundation.
  • No. 1 or 2  train (West Side IRT) to Houston St.  Walk 7 blocks east on Houston St. to Foundation.
  • No. 6 train (Lexington Avenue IRT) to Bleecker St.  Walk 1 block south to Houston St. and 3 blocks west on Houston St. to Foundation.
Via bus: 
    M-l (Mon-Fri) or M-6 (every day) to Houston Street.  Walk 2 blocks west along Houston St. to Foundation.
    M-5 (Ask for Greene St.) 
Via car:
    Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island use directions from Brooklyn, Manhattan, Williamsburg, or Queensboro bridges or Queens-Midtown Tunnel  click here

    Connecticut and Westchester  use directions from Upper Manhattan (see below)

    Upper Manhattan and Bronx

    • (West Side) Take the Henry Hudson Parkway, Route 9A (12th Ave.), get off at and follow 23rd St. (for 0.8 mi.), go right on 7th Ave. (for 0.9 mi.), left on Bleecker St. (for 0.5 mi.), right on Mercer St. (for 1 block), and finally turn right on Houston St. to Greene St. (1 block). 
    • (East Side) Take the FDR Drive, get off at Houston St., go west on Houston St. to Greene St. (1.3 mi.)

    From New Jersey

    Exiting the Holland Tunnel, follow signs to and up 6th Ave. (also called Avenue of the Americas) for (0.6 miles), turn right on Houston St. to Greene St. (6 blocks) 
Exiting the Lincoln Tunnel continue on  40th St. (for 0.4 mi.), turn right on 7th Ave. (for 1.8 mi.), left on Bleecker St. (for 0.5 mi.), right on Mercer St. (for l block), right on Houston St. to Greene St. (1 block)    Coming off the George Washington Bridge, use directions from upper Manhattan (West Side) click here

Tunnels and Bridges from Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island

Coming off the Brooklyn Bridge, follow Chambers St. (for 3 blocks), turn right on Church St. (for 7 blocks), 6th Ave. (also called Avenue of the Americas) for 0.7 mi., turn right on Houston St. to Greene St. (6 blocks)    Coming off the Manhattan Bridge, turn right on Bowery (for 0.5 miles), left on E. Houston St. to Greene St. (0.3 mi.)    Coming off the Williamsburg Bridge, continue along Delancey St. (for 0.4 mi.), turn right on Bowery (for 0.2 mi.), left on W. Houston St. to Greene St. (0.3 mi.)    Exiting the Queens-Midtown Tunnel at 34th St., go left on 34th St. (for 1 block) to 2nd Ave. Go right on 2nd Ave. (for 1.6 mi.), right on Houston St. to Greene St. (0.4 mi.) 

Coming off the Queensboro Bridge, left on 2nd Ave. (for 2.9 mi.), turn right on Houston St. to Greene St. (0.4 mi.) 

Exiting the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel bear right, follow Trinity Place, Church St., and Avenue of the Americas to W. Houston St. (1.6 mi.). Turn right on W. Houston and go 6 blocks to Greene St..
