Subway Directions:

To get to the Foundation—

  • from the Broadway-Lafayette station on the B, D, and F trains, walk 2 blocks west on Houston Street;
  • from the Bleecker Street station on the No. 6 train, walk 1 block south to Houston Street, and 2 blocks west;
  • from the Prince Street station on the N and R trains, walk 2 blocks west and one block north;
  • from the Houston Street station on the No. 1 train, walk 7 blocks east;
  • from the Spring Street station on the C and E trains, walk 6 blocks east and 2 blocks north.

From Penn Station (LIRR, NJ Transit, Amtrak), take the No. 1 train to Houston Street station.

From Grand Central Terminal (MetroNorth) take the No. 6 train to Bleecker Street station.

Bus Directions:

M-5 (from Uptown) get off at Houston St. and Broadway and walk 2 blocks west along Houston to Greene Street. 
M-5 (from Downtown) get off at Houston St. and 6th Avenue and walk 6 blocks east along Houston to Greene Street. 

M-21 Crosstown on Houston St. (No weekend service) Get off at Greene Street, eastbound or westbound.

Driving Directions

Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island—Use directions from Brooklyn, Manhattan, Williamsburg, or Queensboro Bridges, or Queens-Midtown or Brooklyn-Battery Tunnels  click here

Upper Manhattan and Bronx

    • (West Side) Take the Henry Hudson Parkway, Route 9A (12th Avenue), get off at and follow 23rd St. (for 0.8 mi.), go right on 7th Avenue (for 0.9 mi.), left on Bleecker Street (for 0.5 mi.), right on Mercer St. (for 1 block), and finally turn right on Houston Street to Greene St. (1 block).
       
    • (East Side) Take the FDR Drive, get off at Houston Street, go west on Houston St. to Greene Street (1.3 mi.)

From New Jersey

Exiting the Holland Tunnel, follow signs to and up 6th Avenue (also called Avenue of the Americas) for 0.6 mi., turn right on Houston St. to Greene Street (6 blocks) 

Exiting the Lincoln Tunnel, continue on  40th St. (for 0.4 mi.), turn right on 7th Avenue (for 1.8 mi.), left on Bleecker Street (for 0.5 mi.), right on Mercer St. (for 1 block), right on Houston Street to Greene St. (1 block) 

Coming off the George Washington Bridge, use directions from upper Manhattan (West Side) click here


Tunnels and Bridges from Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island

Coming off the Brooklyn Bridge, follow Chambers Street (for 3 blocks), turn right on Church St. (for 7 blocks), bear left onto 6th Avenue (also called Avenue of the Americas) and drive for 0.7 mi., turn right on Houston Street to Greene St. (6 blocks)

Coming off the Manhattan Bridge, turn right on Bowery (for 0.5 mi.), left on Houston Street to Greene St. (0.3 mi.) 

Coming off the Williamsburg Bridge, continue along Delancey Street (for 0.4 mi.), turn right on Bowery (for 0.2 mi.), left on Houston St. to Greene Street (0.3 mi.)

Coming off the Queensboro Bridge, left on 2nd Avenue (for 2.9 mi.), turn right on Houston St. to Greene Street (0.4 mi.) 

Exiting the Queens-Midtown Tunnel (downtown) at 34th Street, go left on 34th Street (for 1 block) to 2nd Avenue, and right on 2nd Avenue (for 1.6 mi.). Turn right on Houston Street to Greene Street (0.4 mi.)

Enter the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel in the right lane. When you exit, bear right, follow Trinity Place, Church Street, and 6th Avenue (Avenue of the Americas) to Houston Street (1.6 mi.). Turn right on Houston and go 6 blocks to Greene Street.


Parking Lots

If you are travelling by car there are parking lots in the area. Two that are convenient are:

  • 1) on Mercer Street between Houston and Prince Streets
  • 2) on Wooster Street between Houston and Prince Streets

    Free on-street parking is available after 6 pm weekdays and all day Saturday and Sunday.
