The Visual Arts & the Opposites

See what Art says about your life! A vibrant Museum/Gallery class

Marcia Rackow, artist & art critic

Looking at the art of the world in New York museums and galleries—from the Rembrandts at the Met to the latest multi-media installations in Chelsea—you’ll learn what makes a work of art lastingly beautiful. These vibrant, interactive classes are based on this Aesthetic Realism principle:

“All beauty is a making one of opposites, and the making one of opposites is what we are going after in ourselves.”

Does art do what we want to do in our lives—put opposites together, such as light and dark, passion and logic, truth and imagination? You’ll see why—and how—the answer is Yes.

And once a semester, Ms. Rackow joins with anthropologist Arnold Perey to show the relation of primitive art to our own lives.
